Kodi is a gorgeous boy from Echoing Wind Siberians in Randall, MN. He is out of their "Kruiz" (AKC CH/ CAN CH/ BPBIS UKC CH/ MBBEBIS IABCA IntCH Echoing Wind's Take It All CA UCA) and "Foxy" (APRI/ACA CH TLC's Arctic Fox). He is an absolute sweetheart, which he comes by from both parents. He has a thick plush coat, good reach and drive, and a beautiful side gait with no wasted movement. He also has the most STUNNING head and expression, and is always happy and looking to make friends with everyone he meets!

While I originally planned for Kodi to be the foundation of my breeding program, fate decided otherwise. He had an extreme reaction to a bordetella vaccine at 5 months old and suffered a total of six grand mal seizures (one 2 hours after he was given the vaccine, one the day after, and a cluster of four shortly after those), and was placed on phenobarbital as a precaution by his veterinarian. He has had no seizure activity of any kind since 2016 and has since been weaned completely off of the phenobarb with no ill effects. However, after a couple of years of agonizing over it, his breeders and I came together and decided the best decision was not to breed him. None of his immediate or distant relatives have ever suffered from epilepsy (perhaps coincidentally, he was also the only one of them ever to receive the bordetella vaccine) and his vet also agreed it was a vaccine reaction and not true epilepsy, but we still couldn't take the chance. I knew that if an issue ever surfaced in a pup he produced, I would never be able to look that puppy's owner in the eye and tell them I knew the sire had had seizures and I bred him anyway.

As such, Kodi is now neutered and will not be bred. He is mostly retired aside from the occasional altered conformation show or lure coursing trial. Instead he will live the rest of his days as a beloved pet, just as I always intended him to be, as well as an assistant puppy-raiser here at Kodivaro.

Kodi may not be the genetic foundation of my breeding program as I planned, but he is the reason I fell in love with the world of dog sports and decided to start breeding for myself, and I am so glad I chose him to be the namesake of this kennel.

Love you, Kodi-Man!
